Join us on the longest day of the year, in the Wensum Valley from dawn til dusk, to connect and bear witness to this beautiful and rare landscape, and its non-human inhabitants. Durational Performance in the Wensum Valley as part of the anti-road campaign for the proposed Western Link Road #StopTheWesternLink We invite you to join this action which will take place on a Public footpath spanning the floodplain on the Wensum Valley from Low Farm across to the River Wensum in Ringland. Sentinels can alternately walk in a slow processional movement passing and repassing each other in silence, stand or rest. The idea is for Sentinels to connect and bear witness to the more than human life of the Wensum Valley, in silent respect to invoke a sense of interconnectedness and a direct realisation of the wholeness of life. This will be a silent protest against the proposed Western Link Road. People who love nature and would like to take part in this performance are invited to join any part of the duration of the performance, as long as they adhere to the aspect of silence and take care not to litter or cause any disturbance to wildlife or plants. There are very few parking spaces available in Ringland so where possible please arrange so that you can be dropped off and picked up or walk or cycle. The Wensum Valley is home to a rich and varied mosaic of habitats which support diverse rare plants and animals. If the road goes ahead there may not be another chance to connect in this way to this ancient landscape. Noise, pollution, constructions zones and fragmentation of habitats will destroy this remarkable and beautiful place and the plants and animals that rely on it. Ringland Village Hall is available via supervising stewards for WC / rest / hot drinks from 9 am -11.00 pm on the 21st June. Stewards will be available to advise.
